Pyongyang, North Korea

These schoolchildren are singing about how great Kim Jong-un is to this cheery backdrop. A student – Sun Ji-hoon says when I came here, I feel the love and affection of our great Marshal Kim Jong-un. At the ruling party congress, Kim hailed North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. North Korea invited 128 foreign journalists to cover the event. But did not let any of them in.

Anna Fifield says, this is how journalists in Pyongyang are having to cover the Congress off the TV. They were then taken to tour a wire factory. The congress is the biggest political gathering in the country and hasn’t happened since 1980. Thousands of North Korean practiced dance and parade routines. Party like it’s nuclear weapon time.

Kim Jong-un’s estranged half brother was assassinated at an airport in Malaysia. Kim Jong-nam was the oldest son of the late Korean ruler Kim Jong-li. He was expected to succeed his father until he was caught sneaking into Japan to visit Tokyo Disneyland.

Kim Jong-un ascended to power instead, and Jong-nam ultimately fled North Korea. Since then, he is being a high profile critic of the regime.  He was using fake passport when he was reported assassinated by two female agents. Early reports of the murder weapon varied from poisoned needles to a chemical spray or poisoned soaked rag. Poor guy, he was prosecuted and exiled just because he wanted to take his family to Disney. There is a pretty horrific hell for killers of one’s own family, wouldn't want to end up there.
